It *is* a technical issue, though. Like, Americans *are* just violent. But guns are a force multiplier, and that's bad. Also, this isn't just *a* cultural issue. It's ultimately a conflict between two very different cultures.

So yeah. It's a mess because people come at it from very different values and millieus. And the actual core debate is impossible to resolve because SCOTUS (and Founders, but mostly SCOTUS) idiocy.
I mean it's specifically a cultural issue around the guns and placing lots of dangerous instrumentalities in the hands of lots of people who cannot handle them.
I agree that most proposed regulations are not doing a great job dealing with it, we basically need to reduce the number of privately owned guns, especially handguns and registration doesn't really do that.
Haven't figured out the political economy part, since I am bad at political economy, but I'd impose mandatory no fault insurance on all privately owned guns and make refusing to insure your gun a big boy felony in addition to the strict civil liability for anything that gun ever does.
hmm if the liberals peeked at gun culture they're notice how many of the epic black rifle guys are just doing school shooter drills
Gun culture scares the shit out of me. The most normal people are the cowboy action guys. (With love to the history dorks, there's a lot of nazis and whenwes who lurk in the shadows thataway.)
going to any "gun show" to find that it's just a nazi memorabilia & reproductions show instead
