Bought myself a guitar kit so I can make a John Squire shell pink Stratocaster. Discovered recently he recorded all the rhythm parts on The Stone Roses and the early singles on one. I probably wouldn’t have hated Strats so much as a youth if I’d known that at the time.

Love that. Again, had I seen that at the time I’d have got busy with the paint on my dad’s white Strat.
What was your hatred of strats?
It was the guitar of Chesney Hawks, every bland mainstream singers backing band, the only one they sold in Grattan Catalogue (albeit an Encore model). Just seemed so obvious and dull.
Plus, it was well cheap. I’ve got a couple of their guitars and an amp and they’re incredible value for money.
First coat of pink on the front of the body, couple of coats of mint green on the scratch plate. Headstock done up to 2000 grit wet and dry, have ordered some polishing sheets to get a nice sheen on the edges I’ve shaped.
