Well, I don’t do roasts for one person, but I managed a sherry (fino), then a cheat’s recipe from a frozen food catalogue which involves a turkey escalope, mushrooms, slivers of apple (all cooked in butter) and crème fraîche, all tipped over some tagliatelle. And a glass or two of Listel gris.

Sherry is a very under-rated drink! I'm a great fan of the medium sherries, although in hot weather a cold manzanilla is also delightful 😀

And practically invisible in France. If I can get to Spain I stock up on manzanilla and fino. And I have a grandson in England who drinks Pedro Ximenez with ice cream! It’s like raisin liqueur

Yes, I live not that far from Jerez and PX often appears on restaurant menus in meat dishes as well as desserts. Amontillado or oloroso are my favourites 😍. Hey, we should invite Shawn Hennessy @sevillatapas.bsky.social to join in our sherry appreciation conversation! She's a Sherry Master!

In fact I am a Certified Sherry Educator 😉 and the first thing I want to say is that Harvey's Bristol Cream is an excellent cream sherry (which I prefer to mediums as they are naturally sweet, no sugar added) but it's been so badly abused over the years that it has unfairly develeoped a bad rep.
