This isn't that. Federal governance depends upon people generally agreeing that, regardless of what policies differences exist, people are trying to get to the same general place. Now that there are no national values, we don't have that.

Tell that to Grant and Sherman. Sometimes what is needed is for the assholes whose values are repugnant to end up on the wrong end of a bayonet charge. Then everyone else can more or less make an agreement and get back to the business of living in a functioning society

The country is actually still unified on a lot of issues once you ask them about those issues in a non-biased way. We can be united if we stop giving power to the people who divide us. Don't believe the lie fed to you AND your neighbor that you hate each other. Get out and actually talk to people.
