Again, thank you. Understanding that humans are also beholden to heuristic behavior is so important. People often state something like "it can never be as sentient as a human" without understanding the limitations of human sentience. Have you read Kahneman?
Cassandrus (@cassandrusb.bsky.social) reply parent
It's heuristic thinking versus analytical thinking. Yes, a lot of math classes do this better, partly because math is inherently seen as more analytical. But think about the common core debate and how some parents just want their kids to learn the times tables instead of internalizing how they work.

A low birth rate, provided it does not dip too far below replacement values, is a good thing, not a bad thing. Population density is a major cause of the problems we see in modern life. There's already too many people.

I know. But the civics classes were about the norms as much as the laws, like Washington leaving office even though he didn't have to. The core values of the system, basically - and maybe, then we come back to manyu people *not* listening as well in class as they should have.
Cassandrus (@cassandrusb.bsky.social) reply parent
OTOH, the norms that we were taught about in civics classes point towards the idea that he probably should've resigned by now. Nixon did for far less. That's the trick with norms, though - they have no legal binding and trying to impose them through legal binding would also be a bit fascist.
