"You cannot judge someone based on the art they make. Just because something makes you uncomfortable doesn't mean it's bad. If you find something distasteful, that's a you problem." i'd agree, but can you give me an example of what you mean first? coz y'know, that's a lil vague.
That's such a shitty and dishonest way to frame censorship anyway. You can't control how people react to your art. You can't pretend that your art exists in a vaccuum. You can say "this specific art piece is very harmful, actually" without endorsing its censorship
like. people should be allowed to read Mein Kampf but i'm sure as hell not gonna encourage anyone to make more of them
hell, piggybacking off of the mention of Mein Kampf, i think a lot of the anti-censorship arguments end up being pro-censorship in a way because they do a lot to portray more "normal" ideas and fringe ideas on the same bandwith. Mein Kampf is infamously a VERY poorly written book, given that Hitler-
had pickled his brain at that point and was divorcing himself from reality. a lot of translations do not pick up the amount of sheer grammatical incoherence or the lack of any reasonable flow to the writing in order to seem more "objective" but in reality it's doing a disservice to what it really is
i fucking hate this censorship debate bcs half of it is "if you think fiction affects reality in any capacity then youre an uber conservative piece of shit" and the other half is "if you dont blindly support censorship then youre a literal child abuser"
