Tbf us Cold War kids grew up doing nuclear bombs drills. I remember thinking in 5th/6th grade that a future nuclear event was pretty much inevitable. But, yeah this gun crap is horrific and a much easier fix if the gun nuts would get out of the way.

Grew up just south of Omaha back in the 80's. I recall a school field trip where we drove by Strategic Air Command at Offutt AFB and the teacher excitedly explained we would be the 3rd place nuked by the russians because it was SO important. What a time.

I remember the nuke drills in school. They had us hunker down under our desk like that might actually protect us. It was such an unrealistic concept in our elementary minds but kids today have been taught about the danger of guns and know the consequences.

Exactly. That's the real difference. Hiding under desks because of a threat of a far away country was ridiculous and scary enough. But kids now know it's very real that someone could just walk into school and start shooting them. It's so much more personal and a realistic fear.
