But the EU companies will raise prices domestically to off set losses..from lower sales and to absorb some cost so Americans will still buy some stuff.. my local grocery store in south Mississippi has raised prices across the board on things I know for a fact are not imported.it's what businesses do

Tariffs are paid by the importers. Not all producers are importers.

This is not the way it works. First of all not everybody exports to the US and is affected. But if anything there would be an extra supply of goods that are not sold in the US and prices will go down.
