true but the reds aren't the same franchise as the red stockings (and i think but am not sure that the boston red sox also aren't the same franchise as the boston red stockings)

Boston Red Stockings are the Atlanta Braves now. Cincinnati Reds are indeed the Cincinnati Red Stockings

nah the original 1869 red stockings went out of business. most of the best players went to boston to form the boston red stockings
