I have family in the military. None can afford a lawyer. I do wonder what horrible thing will happen to them if they refuse to comply.

It could be any kind of horrible thing that happens to them, just like the horrible things that can happen if they DO comply to an illegal order. I've been told that that is all part of being part of the military.
