I think the pay is pretty low, it's one of the reasons people aren't interested.

In Florida, they get low wages and basic benefits. That's why the signing bonus is such an incentive.

The benefits are great. The retired LEOs I know (from MPLS/St Paul) get extremely generous benefits.
