No one should feel superior because they live in a blue state. They should feel lucky that they won't have a close election and be supporting the people fighting on the front lines for our democracy in red states.

Blue States are only ever 1-2 election cycles away from becoming purple. Complacency and overconfidence can lead to bad trouble.
See, there it is again: "Blue states." While I do like the meat of your comment, I just can't like that language. I really feel very strongly that it doesn't help. I don't ever use it myself for this reason.
My State has a Democratic Gov., 2 Dem Senators, Dem Congressional Reps in 14 of 17 districts, and an overwhelming Dem majority in the State General Assembly. It’s a Blue state. I’m not sure why you’re having a problem with that 🤷♀️
Well I am trying to explain why I have a problem with that language. All I can say is read my comments here in this thread again—all of them—please. Thanks.
I'm trying really hard to break through this habit (bad habit) that I see all across this Bluesky platform. I have seen from my travels on Bluesky that it's divisive language that's not helpful. I've pledged to never use it myself.🙂
I don’t see it being divisive unless it’s used to divide people. It’s not in this current context.
It has, in fact, been used extensively to divide people. All across this Bluesky platform it has. No, not in your specific comment here. And as I said, I am committed to staying away from using it myself—ever—because I really do feel it is being used by many to divide us.
And this too: Am I a "blue dot in a sea of red"? Never. I'm much too large to ever be a "dot" anywhere I'm located across this great country.
Good. I admire your determination
For you, a gift. 🙂🎁💐 #WhatsOn 🎧🎶 youtu.be/dxHmOhpOMI0?...
Thanks for that. Yes, I am determined. See, I have a vision of ONE Republic.🙂
This: I really think we're allowing the results of the 2024 electoral college votes to shape too much of our perception about each state. When all the electoral college votes of a state go to one party, that doesn't mean everyone in that state voted that way, it often means a VERY slim majority did.
Yes, and there are not blue states as much as states where the electoral votes happened to go Democratic.
Yep. I really think it's important that we get out of this mindset of division based on state borders. And the language folks are using, so-called "blue" vs "red" is supporting this mindset, not reversing or debunking it.
I'm a firm believer in #LanguageMatters
This is why I stay entirely away from even using that "blue state" labeling. Because I really don't think it helps to break down these artificial barriers to continue to use that language myself.
