Also, I’ve found that some of the clearest reporting on America’s authoritarian turn isn’t coming from U.S. outlets but from foreign journalists and media.

Yes! I’ve been checking daily since the inauguration. I find Spain, France and Italy mainstream papers to be among the best. FT also very good.

French media has been extremely clear and direct. It makes the NYT look like lightweight government propaganda.

Yep…they’ve been excellent! And so have Wired. Yep foreign outlets, non-mainstream outlets (Guardian, Wired, etc.) have the distance necessary to objectively describe what is happening .

IMO it’s been that way for years. Honest reporting comes from outside of the US. And if it is international news you want don’t even bother with US media… they live in the me me me bubble

Since 2016 what we needed was for US outlets to put their foreign correspondents on to cover our political situation. Not their political correspondents who are stenographers. Have their international journalists cover us like they would cover a foreign country. That is the way.

'twas always thus. A lack of decent public education has created a nation unable to see beyond its borders. Not stupid, just ignorant.
