This is how deep the AI rabbit hole goes: 1K words and 50 links (many of them to collections of yet more links) and we have only covered ONE of this technology's many problems. And yet this one problem sits at the apex of all the others. If we weren't forced to use it, those problems would go away.
The usefulness of this tech is pathetically narrow. The environmental costs are staggering. The destruction of livelihoods and careers from AI-justified layoffs is only beginning to be felt. All of this could stop if it was possible to say, no thank you, not for me. So they made it that you can't.
Every day this week I keep thinking "should have waited to publish this article because it would be great to include these other examples" because this shit just never stops.
I immediately thought of you after finishing the article & wonder if you'll have a take on it, bc its final point on how *at sea* users are left with this product in terms of figuring out what they might even want to do with it, feels like a very UX thing, the kind of non-design you've talked about
literally every day the AI future is the surveillance future
This is happening in nz as well
I've only been attaching the most egregious ones to this thread, but this is next level
Patreon is now trying to pull this shit too, but at least there is an opportunity to stop them.
Remember glassholes? Well, they're back, in pog form
Your content is no longer your content. It belongs to the Baron whose land you till.
I hate it here

Alas, it keeps some of the rando leakage effects minimized.
