Gross and cheap is what Gavin Newsome has always excelled in. Maybe don’t crown him the Second Coming of Christ when there’s •years• before elections — if they happen at all. Leaders prove themselves with more than social media, and over the long haul.

My enemy’s enemy is my friend. Newsome is among the strongest opponents to the Trump dictatorship, so he’s on the right side for now. If and when the dictatorship ends, the democratic resistance can find a better leader.
I would never say he should shut up or whatever but he’s just one brick in the wall that needs to build against autocracy. Good on him for picking a fight. But I don’t trust him. Right now, that doesn’t matter.
I feel like there are lots of people who feel this way, but we are happy that Newsom is out here, fighting fire with fire. This is a war and he’s just fighting one battle in it. By the time 2028 rolls around, there will be many better qualified candidates in the running.
That’s the whole point. This fucking “the guy said something — GAV FOR PREZ” insanity is not warranted. Everyone needs to rise up. Just because he has doesn’t make him the second coming of Christ.
