Nietzsche is peachy. He’s also right.
Nietzsche is peachy. He’s also right.
OP is flaky; this quote is a fakey.
Ahem. C H R I S T I A N S
Ouch! Not on me.
Why is the "Perfect Word" so full of contradictions, revisions, and according to's?
Because There are no perfect Word
Absolutely...
Truth.
The people claim we are a nation founded on christian values. What I want to know is what page of the play book of christian values does it talk about why it's ok to participate in a genocide? Or killing 18k children, intentionally starving 2 million people. Oh wait, I may have the wrong country.
The Bible and Christianity has become synonymous with bigotry and white supremacy.
Nietzsche nails it: knowledge is meaningful only when it’s engaged with critically. The person who clings blindly to one source can be far more destructive than the one who seeks to learn broadly.
One of the rare times Nietsche wasnt completely full of shit. He also said "when you go to women go with the whip"...Bertrand Russell famously wrote "but 9 out of 10 women woud have got the whip away from him...and he knew it".
What. Bible. Is. That? :-/
Exactly!! I bet that book is called the Bible! Love this!
One of the few philosophers who dared to deny the existence of god through philosophical reasoning. Good for him.
I hate to agree with Nietche (sp?), but yeah...
You are in luck: since he never said this, you don’t have to agree with Nietzsche.
not his. similar to Thomas Aquinas quote disparaging dogmatism
I wonder how many MAGA Bible thumpers have actually read the Bible in its entirety.
And it's about the invisible man in the sky, who loves you, and needs money... George Carlin (paraphrased)
All Omnipotent, All Seeing, Can't Handle Money. Also George Carlin [paraphrased]
I'VE READ ABOUT SOMEONE JUST LIKE THAT 😆
In a nutshell- this explains bsky.social
This explains everything on BlueSky!
I prefer this quote: "If you go home with someone and they don't have any books, don't fuck them." -- John Waters
This is a weird coincidence; I found a quote from 1832 extolling the man who has studied and studied just 1 author. It told of the Latin phrase: Cave ab homine unus libri. Beware the man of 1 book. I think the 1832 guy got that lesson wrong. I think it was talking about fanatics.
What about someone who considers a book holy and makes it his life's mission to preserve all the books he can while the world is collapsing around him? en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassiod...
That description fits someone I know . . .
Interestingly, those are the same type of people who scream "Trust the science!". We call these dogmats. They don't think, they just believe without question.
This stuff is never sourced. Never.
That sums up every racist christian and muslim in Cyprus. Ignorance is a choice. Embrace knowledge. #peace #unity #knowledge
But says he has.
Yes they are
Absolute truth!!!!!
youtu.be/ERUngQUCsyE?...
"Be afraid of the person who posts fake Nietzsche quotes online without ever having read him." -Abraham Lincoln
🤣🤣🤣
I mean he is a terrible fucking philosopher partly responsible for Nazi-ism.
😂
“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but on the internet you can run hog wild and all bets are off.” Abraham Lincoln, probably
😂
Wasn’t that Bush Jr.
You misquote Mark Twain on purpose...
Touche!
No, "Nietzsche." :p
"I do not fear the man who wrote a thousand quotes once. I fear the man who wrote one quote a thousand times." - Liu Kang from King of Fighters
Believe it or not, that is most Christian religions.
A lady at my senior center said I read too much as I was giving away day old unread newspapers destined for recycling. I always say reading is fundamental and Sunday funnies are best.
Borrowing. Thank you for posting!!
To quote epic rap battles. "You tried to plant a new German psyche but you only grew hate. Me no third reichy."
This is so fucking deep I feel stoned.
That's the Leviticus in you coming out.
can i have some of that pumpkin pie?
Remind you of anyone?
I remember this one guy who has a favorite book but can't quote anything from it and holds it upside down at manufactured photo ops absolute fake human. good thing no one was stupid enough to take him seriously oh wait
lol
Sounds like Donnie and his "Gold Bibles" he sells
A lot of people considers this one book sacred and have read meanwhile many many books where is the problem So lame as a citation and I doubt it's Nietzsche's
Nietzsche scholar here. He never said or wrote this.
He was so prescient about the president
Those with empathy are natural moral. Those without need an instruction manual and weekly lessons to know right from wrong. Histories atrocities are done by those 100% sure God is on their side.
Especially when, as with Trump, the book is Mein Kampf.”
Wonder where he placed those of us who have many books, but no time to read them? :)
How do you mean 🤔
Yes, I don't know anyone that actually read all of the supposed 2025 tome or even part of it. They just recite what some drugged out 20 something blogger said is there. How may have actually read the 10 commandments in Exodus. nothing about gays or trans there. Nothing women are less than Trans.
It's not the end of the world for the love of GOD. Go buy your kids the books...go to a public library. Enough of the poor me bullshit. I don't 💯 agree with it but I choose to move on and GET THE FUCK OVER IT
#withalttext Note: This quote is widely circulated online but there is no verified source confirming that Nietzsche actually said or wrote it. It appears to be a paraphrased or apocryphal attribution.
Thank you @anydoubts.bsky.social ! Much appreciate the info
What about people who take quotes out of context? Nietzsche mourned the loss of the Christian god. What about people who think BlueSky is a place for honest intellectual thought or open mindedness? What about the Communist and atheist societies who have rejected the values of Christianity?
Especially if that person is the President of the United States.
This quite true. 👍
I love this!
Books are banned by people who don’t read book.
🤔…Donald Trump?
"Those who do not remember George Santayana are condemned to misquote him."
And it’s for sale. Signed
He had so many good quotes...some that never felt relevant until... Now.
And some that he never said, that are attributed to him. Kind of like Lincoln, and Einstein, and Mark Twain…
Nothing wrong with this quote - not sure about authenticity - just know that Friedrich Nietzsche's views and philosophy overall is not without problems and was exploited by the Nazis
Now “that” is word!
If this quote is real he probably didn't say the day last part
I like that a lot I had not heard that before thank you for sharing and yes it is the absolute truth the guy with the one book wants you to be afraid yet the well-educated the well read know better
Or he reads it and ignores it.
“I never said this” - Friedrich Nietzsche
Amen
So true, I wonder as a percentage, how many of these religious nuts have actually sat down and read it? I did, and it's one of the worst books ever put to paper, the old testament is a horror show of violent murders and slaughter. Anyone who thinks there are morals in there is plain stupid.
I don’t know if this is a real quote, but I’m gonna have to disagree because I believe the one who is more educated, knows more, and thinks more efficiently, is more dangerous. I don’t know that people who have a ǝʅqᴉq and not read it are dangerous. These ppl’s minds are so easily influenced.
Fred was no slouch.
Wow, nailed it!
I’m not afraid of either one. (“Just one book” is silly ).
I can't wait to have a library, I just can't afford it yet.
And doesn’t know it’s upside down
I knew it would be here. TY.
Just one book, to ruin the whole world
I'm scared shitles right now.
All books matter (except for dumb ones that sell a lot of copies to Median Humans [not including The Bible, except for the gold-plated Trump Bible {which is definitely missing a lot of the crucial points}]). - F. Nietzsche
I’m also terrified of Infinite Jest fans too.
Yeah, I haven’t even watched the Handmaid’s Tale MOVIE.
Don’t bother, the movie was terrible at least I didn’t like it, at least I was comparing it to the book back then. It’s good to see a glimpse of early 90s Faye Dunaway though.
The book is sad but hopefully
Word, Fred, word.
Funny...we know a guy like that
Facts.
Amen!
That means the person has not read any books.
And thinks he already knows everything, so doesn't need to.
Doesn’t need to think it. Gets told so and reminded of it every Sunday.
Wow, that was prophetic to say the least.
What do you call someone who has read the bible? An atheist.
The statement argues that the sanctification of a text kills its intellectual life. It becomes a symbol to be worshipped rather than a living document to be wrestled with. The people who own it in name may, in fact, be the farthest from grasping its challenging, nuanced, or transformative potential
Old wisdom
Cherry picking is not reading.
Bingo and here we are today...
Or who has read only one book, Mein Kampf (allegedly).
The rumor is that he had a copy of Mrin Kampf in his bedroom. I don't know anything about the other book. Also, should I just say obviously to you? Or obviously not?
He has probably read both...but you did say one. Ivanka Trump claimed it was My New Order he kept at his bedside though. Rather than try and be cool with gifs, it would be cool if you used a search engine to get facts BEFORE becoming combative. Scroll down to "surprising fact".
Donald is a fake everything, including political monsters.
People who read starship troopers be like...
Mustache Man sure got that one right.
And that one book makes no sense. Full of contradictions, violence, bloodshed and incest. What followers of that book call facts, have no basis in reality.
As John Waters says; 'if there TV is bigger than their bookshelf, don't fuck them.'
You mean the Bible or Book of Mormon, the Karan ? For example.
Or maybe it’s the wealthy oligarchs who want the masses kept stupid, uneducated, and unable to defend themselves legally—making them easy targets.
✔️
An idealist
I can't disagree : I've built my own library in each place I lived, and I've lost all my books each and every time I left the place, sadly. but I can't read a book if I don't own it, I don't know why, but I've been built this way… ¡bad luck!
I feel ya Budd happens to me a lot
I hate it when I learn Nietzsche has been quoting me again.
Good news, then: he never said this.
Honestly it’s hard for me to tell. I’ve only read a few books of his and all in translation—which was tedious enough without taking him on with my defective & incomplete German. That’s why I don’t like him quoting me. I’m sure he gets it wrong and just re-words to suit his own aims.
Nietzsche may have never said it. He probably would have thought it and it certainly captures the ignorance of many religious people. There was a good reason why only priests were allowed to read the Bible before printing was invented.
I fear the person in the library with an AK-47.
Stimmt. M16 is more likely, but 8500km from you, I think you are safe Kumpel.
That's true
Or misquotes it to suit themselves
Preach!
So...the bible or Mein Kampf?
Or if he reads it only to impress other people with quotes, and does not follow the teachings, and only judges others.
tinyurl.com/23wndndu?dhhdh
Can you give an exact reference where Nietzsche said so?
A book with its foundation in inbreeding too
Too bad Nietzsche never said this.
Who cares who said it? It's true.
The “Nietzsche” was added to give the quote authority and weight. If the quote had been attributed to Squidly McSquidface, people might agree with it, but they wouldn’t repost it. The fake attribution is meant to manipulate the reader. The quote goes from being truth to being propaganda.
Seems too pithy and concise for Nietzsche. Epitome of the modern man: insecure windbag.
I mean for all his flaws, he could drop a concise aphorism when he wanted to -" At times one remains faithful to a cause only because its opponents do not cease to be insipid."
"The person who can read but doesn't has no advantage over the person who can't read." - Mark Twain
This means nothing.
This is true. Trust the person who has many books and has actually read the Bible…not just parts of it, but cover to cover.
💯
Freidrich didn't foretell what happened to his culture where almost everyone was mostly reading just one book. 😶
So Nietschke did say one thing worth taking note of
Yes, but this bullshit “quote” isn’t it.
That Nietzsche guy sure was smart. Unlike his followers.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-li... Anti-literacy laws arose from fears of slave insurrection Allow our slaves to read your writings, stimulating them to cut our throats! Can you believe us to be such unspeakable fools?
Slaveholders feared that literacy would empower them to question their condition, organize rebellions, communicate for escapes, and understand the injustices they faced, thereby threatening the entire institution of slavery
For more news and details, follow us.
Nice quote, with only one problem: Friedrich Nietzsche never said it
Truth!🙏
33% of US HS graduates never read another book after HS. And the GOP keeps the base purposefully uneducated because they are easier to manipulate and control. They have also been unconstitutionally enmeshed with the church for decades. Faith by definition is antithetical to critical thinking.
Truth!
I know of such a person
So true!
Even if he has “read” it.
Nietzsche was a great thinker with a terrible fan club.
I think that about Jesus too. If there was a Jesus
Awesome quote, and spot-on.
Bloody hell I’m A reader have hundreds of Books My husband only read one in all His life a travel Guide To Greece 🤣 I think he ok Just not a book person
Totally agree—thanks for sharing 🙏
Which book could Nietzsche possibly mean? 🤔
Or the many who don’t read and only watch FOX News
Even more so if that book is his own book.
Never trust anyone who takes their morals from a book with verses like leviticus 25 44-46 in it.
Never known of anybody being afraid of a book worm.
Monks?
Also, you are describing many, many ppl of all religions around the world. You are discusting!
"Be afraid of morons posting fake internet quotes", Mark Twain.
Whenever I go to someone's house, the first thing I notice is if there's any art on the walls, then I look to see what books they may have.
A big thick book that he waves around upside down, and then later on buys from China covered with cheap gold paint, prints his name on them, and sells to the stupidest people on the planet!
not afraid of either
"God is dead, I pwned him like a noob." - Friedrich Nietzsche's Grandmother.
Hmmmm
Kapow! Right on!
but somehow believes that one book has all the answers
Bible zombies
Wow! Says it all.
You should also be afraid of a President that can only read picture books!
#highlight
I have never read Nietzsche but it is the ideology which counts and is so appropriately addressed to the Red Dumptruck which terrorises America and the world at large.
That sums it up.
Christian Taliban
Everyone has the power to prevent child abuse. Vote Democrat!
This quote is often attributed to various authors, including Voltaire and Chesterton, but there’s no clear source or confirmation. But…it sounds like something Nietzsche might have said. Never mind that — it’s a remarkably insightful observation🤝
This sounds weirdly like the (I think) Bruce Lee quote about fearing the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times more than the man who practiced 10,000 kicks once.
Well said.
I quit cutting up certain non fiction books (first aid, emergency prep, survival, scout manuals). I can FEEL prepped for the 💩 sure to come, at the very least I have an awesome library that deserves some attn. Posted this a few weeks ago
👀
Hmmmm, could he have been thinking the bible has NOT been read by most people who claim to follow Jesus Christ?
"Hominem unius libri timeo" Attributed to Aquinas
Do your part to stop racism, stupidity, and fascism by the Felon and MAGA! Vote every Pedo/insurrectionist supporter OUT!
👍🏻💙🇺🇸
I was imagining today an image of Trump on a banner (like Mao) and infront if it is a bonfire of books. Everyone is holding up Art of the Deal. If I could draw I'd name the piece Art of the Steal.
🙌🏽
The thing that worries me about most Christians is that they don’t read the Bible. Especially the bits about Jesus.
The true danger, as we are witnessing today, are those who may be able to read but lack the ability to think for themselves to comprehend the text. Instead they rely on an interpreter who tells them what to think.
EXACTLY....
So very true, people who are absolutely certain can often be the most ignorant !
I have a digital library with over 15,000 free books stored in it . I'm 67 and at my current rate of about 200 books a year I figure I will be around 135 by the time I've read all of them. And I do plan on reading all of them as long as the writing doesn't suck.
You can always rely on Freddie to nail it.
Amen lol
Those with only one book should be very afraid of those with many books, they win in the end!
🤔so true
"... and is unable to comprehend it, much less read it." (Suggested edit for clarity.)
The only book Trump has ever read is Mein Kampf, which his wife Ivana has claimed he keeps at his bedside.
First time reading that one, but is it ever true.
Well I know one Time for sure . bsky.app/profile/wbst...
