For Suzy♥️
So sweet. But momma upside down floating in a sea of blankets…? My mind looks for what is not there: a sea of water 😔 At least where is her a tub of water? 😔 Is it missing to keep the human home clean and dry? I’m sure her ppl love her. But not enough.
Are you one of the 25 million people who have seen the otterly fabulous documentary "Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story (Full Documentary Special) | National Geographic" Please watch on Youtube - it's about 77 mins long www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkoN...

Otters made for cuddlin'

Cool. We always yelled at our dog for this. Because one of the neighbors dogs would make her mad, and there'd be a barking fest when he showed up. And he didn't have as much energy. Soon we h*ted him as much as she did ☹️😾.
The guy at the end smacking his dog on the head, what a fncking asshole! What does he do to the dog at home?!

Looks like AI.-
Soooo sweet. 🥰 🦦
The smile on her face.🥰
It's trendy in Japan to keep otters as pets. They're cute, but probably wildlife should be allowed to be wild...🫤
Agreed
Tout à fait !
Thinking the same, especially when there is the misleading hashtag #nature .
Yes but most don't have any places left to be wild without interactions with people. When we insist they stay in their place and then proceed to build people things everywhere they are going to die. If a couple find their way into being cared for and not abused/skinned/eaten why bother them.
Save the outrage for the ones that are abused, slaughtered, chased down and skinned alive, kept in cages for their whole life etc. And defend the spaces they need to be wild.
Dogs were once wolves, foxes are on a pathway towards domestication. Some species survive our nonsense by becoming our companions. It is a survival strategy. It's not fair to punish them for adapting to our presence everywhere.
You're making it seem like this was a survival choice. But it's big business to steal wild animals to be bred, trained, traded to zoos and parks. The older members of their group would have been killed. The Japanese do this to 1000ds of dolphins every year, causing the wild populations to plummet.
Once something becomes normalised and trendy, especially when disseminated by social media, this boosts demand. Most of the owners won't be able to look after them properly for practical reasons. They also require highly specialised (expensive) medical care.
I agree with the gist of what you're saying, but my main point is, they don't choose this. They'd rather be wild, regardless. Many captured dolphins commit suicide. (They don't just fall ill; they forcefully self-harm.) Oh dear...The OP just meant to be uplifting. Sorry for bringing everyone down 😫
You are right, companies or governments stealing them from the wild should not be condoned and many zoos/parks that aren't rehab sanctuaries are awful masquerading as conservation. The agencies in the US kill too many wild animals because they violate a magic distance bubble and are "used" to people
I just wish our energy was focused more on the governments and companies that cause mass harm instead of the one person who saved a squirrel and now has a squirrel pet, raccoon, skunk, otter etc if that person is actually caring for them and not trafficking them around.
Dammit i was about to say this. Shut up and take my Like
these otters get regular trips, safely, to their natural habitat for walks...not to worry they love their lives and Japanese in general look after their pets extraordinarily well. Ones i worry about inre pets are the Amish in USA...they are abusive to their animals... www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZfo...
Agreed, the Amish are awful to animals, like our Travelers (similar to Gypsies) here in the UK.
and i always thought the Amish were so nature connected, godly people...ha! i guess not! shame on them...
yah...i found that shocking too...i only recently learned about when i saw a vid of a woman rescuing a mama korgi and her pups. It just broke my heart. Fortunately, she gave them a great home, kept the mama & rehabed her so that she became a happy confident dog & found good homes for her pups. ☺️
these guys are thoroughly happy & very well cared for. Dogs & cats were once wild too...& some types of otters have already become extinct. It is the small clawed otter being domesticated, a vulnerable species at risk of extinction www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbyX...
I would hope so, but specialist vets are rare. As to their welfare, we only know what the (social media-savvy) owners tell us, so ...🫤
Trendy to keep wild animals as pets is really never the right thing to do. Wild animals have a role in their complex ecosystem to maintain, they are unable to populate their species if taken out of their environment. Extremely selfish & should be illegal. Domesticated pets are plentiful! Get a 🐈 🐕!
Yes
It might be a rescue place (hopefully its not someones home)
😊❤️✌️
Ohhh come ON!! 🥰

🥰😍❤️🥰😍❤️
I needed that 💖
Otterly adorable.
What a lovely picture🥹
How do they survive in the water when they’re so tiny and always getting wet?
I guess the baby didn’t projectile vomit into her open underwear drawer, as my newborn did.
Clearly. As otters don't wear underwear, they would have no need for an underwear drawer. (But the baby probably still puked elsewhere).
They don’t? Well maybe they otter. Sorry.
She looks exhausted!
Awww 🥰
