In what other field do we ask academics to be less precise with their words because they might get taken out of context by a potentially politically signed journalist who, in their ideal world, would be in the opposition party?

Also and to be clear, I don't know and will have to evaluate when we know what 2028 actually looks like, but staking out this position now makes having to make that choice later less likely. People are doing politics by arguing strongly for a position when it's the least relevant electorally.

Yea I think anyone hanging their career on attacking trans people is both cruel and also stupid - trans sports will not be the issue in 2028. At the same time - I agree how can we trust Newsom given his shift on trans issues. But we can guarantee Vance will be worse. That’s my angle.
