Yeah, as a country we have the money - wealthiest society the world has ever seen, probably. But the chucklefucks in the GOP want kickbacks and tax cuts for their billionaire buddies and lucrative contracts for their CEO buddies, so they've cut funding to the programs that keep rural hospitals open
The money exists, but it's been stolen from human services and spent on bullshit (or worse). States have to make choices about how they use what's left. Changing state tax structures can make up for some of it, but I doubt they're able to do that before hospitals and clinics start to close
It's infuriating! No one who lives in this wealthy country should go without health care or safe housing or food. The greedy bastards in charge just keep enriching themselves at the cost of everyone else's well-being and to the detriment of the country as a whole.
