The money exists, but it's been stolen from human services and spent on bullshit (or worse). States have to make choices about how they use what's left. Changing state tax structures can make up for some of it, but I doubt they're able to do that before hospitals and clinics start to close

This reminded me of someone I knew when I was a kid - he'd seen friends and lovers die horrible deaths and was undoubtedly traumatized when the evangelical fundamentalists lured him in.
