On Labor Day, remember Coxey's Army. tl;dr During the Depression of the 1890's, Coxey organized a march on Washington to demand federal employment. The movement became national. Upon reaching DC, Coxey was arrested for walking on the grass. The movement fizzled. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coxey%2...

It was the era of company towns, brutal work conditions, private security firms and police and yes the US Army violently breaking strikes. Alongside the expansion of rights and the New Deal, the Progressive Era that would follow this horror is yet another thing these revanchist tyrants would undo.
