unfortunately this film is extremely funny?
unfortunately this film is extremely funny?
I have raised some questions such as why is the entire aerodynamics, strategy, development and analysis team one woman but I guess budget caps do be like this
Sounds almost exactly like my Ferrari old job description
yeah I was like while I am familiar with this game I would still expect to see several more people in the factory allegedly in charge of some of it
I was very literal. “Strategy Engineer, writing software and contributing to the aero design of the car”. I’m still not sure how they came up with it
as the F1 game: the movie this actually makes a lot of sense
there was such a good Monte Carlo Nights piece of absurdity that could have come out of this if you didn't do any serious bits
the one woman is now also the fluids department
ooh, fake dating sideplot
aw, fake dating fakeout :(
Basically a film that had a worse plot than Steve McQueen’s Le Mans using footage less awesome than Steve McQueen’s Le Mans to say something much less profound than Steve McQueen’s Le Mans.
And I don’t even like Steve McQueen’s very much. More of a Paul Newman guy.
by far the best racing movie I've seen recently was Audi v Lancia tbf, don't understand why it took a bit of a panning I thought it was great
Le Mans 66 remains my racing movie high point.
There was no CGI and McQueen was insane enough to get some of those shots. As an engaging film it failed quite badly but no one’s made a better racing movie.
it would have been MUCH better if the team said they had to start dating to prove they liked each other really and then smash cut to social media like :( problematic age gap :((((
look even WACKY RACES had INTERNAL RULES I don't know what they were but I am SURE they were UPHELD you can't just put a driver who didn't qualify into the qualifying driver's grid spot
this movie SUCKS against my better judgement I'm really enjoying it
I think you nailed it with the video game comparison. Lots of references to real things that seem to instead work like unrelated video game mechanics. The original characters seem to be the only people with agency in the series. And, yet, not a terrible time?
My thoughts exactly
huge for sponsors that there's an infosec story in the middle
If you forget everything you know about motorsport, cars, aerodynamics and physics it’s actually a pretty good movie.
That was my ultimate shut-up-and-let-the-others-enjoy-it moment 😬
To quote @megrowler.fangraphs.com , the team members should kiss on the mouth, if they want to.
Lmao
This is the bit that lost me. Although admittedly if you told me the real life Bernie Collins can do everything I probably would believe that.
(For F1TV viewers that would be a Ruth Buscombe-type person)
Bernie and Ruth have teamed up on F1TV features on occasion, so the comparison's not lost on me. 😆
It takes a rigid formula and throws way too much money into it trying to entertain people without being seen as thirsty, just like the sport itself
F1 24 My Team: The Movie
exactly
I was mildly irked they had just one woman in the garage, but given they had a fraction of the number of mechanics a real team has, it was probably proportionally accurate.
Don’t know if you’ve got to this bit of the movie yet but she is also Head of HR
I don't think that was intentional. But yeah.
idk I actually think it was? like the sincere bits are corny as hell but I think the jokes were meant to be there
Brad Pitt's annoyingly good. I don't care for Brad Pitt the person but Bullet Train and Moneyball are all-timers
Wait, he runs the track to scope it out? Revolutionary! The Empire Spoiler Special podcast singled that out as a great move, unfortunately they recorded a while ago, and don't engage much on here, so I couldn't break it to them *everyone* does that. 🙄
