(if you design a nontechnical major, and want to require a single math class for well-roundedness (good!) there is no good reason for requiring college algebra. There’s so much more math out there!) Anyway. I left for reasons, and ::waves-hands-at-everything:: I’m grateful to be out /3

At 45, took a remedial math course, taught by former army sergeant. He interviewed us individually, assessed what math he thought would help us the most in our daily lives and taught us accordingly. Now I *adore* Venn diagrams and use them for everything. It's *my* math, the math I *get* and love.

But it’s still heartbreaking and on some level I feel like it should be my calling to help people overcome their math traumas.

It’s funny: I use the algebra I learned in high school (back in the 90s!) all the time when I’m working in Excel. College algebra (2019?), however, bored the living shit out of me & my need to find &/or plot slopes has been completely nonexistent.

I excelled at math when I got the fuck away from college math and instead got to learn at my own pace and ask questions. I've always had issues with words and my mouth so I got stuck with a lot of "dumbass" tags and knocked down. But watch me do it and notice I understand fine, ignore my mouth.

My brain and mouth just can't match up well and I joke about having mild aphasia, but give me alt ways to present myself and yeah I pick up more than I'm given credit for.
