The government made no effort to deport until this administration's f'up--one they have admitted to. Now they have invented a bunch of charges, a common authoritarian move, and offered him a plea deal to be deported to Costa Rica but only if he admits guilt.
He has refused and wants his day in court, which he is entitled to and the court is fully prepared to give him, and is now under threat of deportation to Uganda--by the administration not a judge.
