Not so much a scoop as passing on what UK folk were sharing in a Reddit thread. There were enough reports to consider it an accurate on the ground update. It's rather chilling in any case.

It’s a curious break from what every other national postal service has announced. I wonder why exactly the UK mail has taken the step of suspending all mail.. 🤷🏾
Given what I'm dealing with right now from the USPS, and the screenshot someone posted of their attempt to send a letter via the website, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a matter of someone not programming an exception for correspondence/noncommercial mail into the computer system.
Interestingly, UK mail won’t send your letter to the US mainland (“No services available”) but can send your letter to USA - Guantanamo Bay for £3.10 🤷🏾🤪
*infinite screaming*
The Royal Mail website is now accepting sending letters and parcels to the US again. This brings it into line with many other countries who have only suspended parcel delivery (mainly commercial) for items with a value more than US$80.
There's a new service starting Friday, I suspect that they suspended the old one at the end of the day Thursday www.royalmail.com/usapersonalu...
I expect you are correct and thanks for the source! There is no mention of this on the website at the point of “can I send it” though. It has gone from “no you cannot” to “yes you can”.
Ah, British service at its finest
