Yes. This has been repeated endless times and is widely acknowledged as a mistake by the Germans. But only from an efficiency (target) POV as those reactors were always going to be shut down. So what is the value of raising it, yet again? They aren’t recommissioning them..

Yes. They did that federally in the US in 2024. In the TSCA.

It isn’t exactly legal (here). I am looking into exactly this though! There’s a bunch of 150-200W panels that are basically free. Why not using them as fencing panels..
Jason Andrade (@jasonandrade.bsky.social) reply parent
Doing basic math this is A$185/400W or A$460/kW for the panels alone. In Australia a 6.6kW system installed is around $4,000 at the entry level. Around 50% more for a quality install.
Jason Andrade (@jasonandrade.bsky.social) reply parent
I know this is meant to be a funny but you can in fact put a mounting frame up and put them next to your house - there’s no technical requirement they have to be installed on a roof..

The US does not allow “brand new brake pads” to be manufactured with asbestos. So in this they are the same as Australia. They do allow them to be imported though (unlike Australia). 🤷🏾
Jason Andrade (@jasonandrade.bsky.social) reply parent
Asbestos is still “allowed” to be used in brake pads in Australia where it’s already present in classic vehicles. There is no ban that requires them to be removed. So clearly Australia is as much of a third world country as the US.. 🤷🏾

So. Many. Staples. I’ve painstakingly removed every staple with a flat head screwdriver. It is horrifically manual and requires muscle and attention to detail (not a lot of skill). This is why couches just go to the dump intact.. and end up in landfill. In NSW that $250 or so..

As someone who disassembles many things to see how they are put together and to understand how recycle-able things can be (and where the value or reuse is) it never ceases to surprise me how little effort is put into design to make this easier/better.
