Felt the same. Good show with some really good moments. Rewatched Thunderheart this week - which treads some similar themes.

Great movie! My only critique was the finale was a little...meh? Rushed maybe? They only had 6 episodes so it had to come together quickly. Really, that's a minor nitpick. It hit all the notes for me to get invested.

Yeah - I saw it when it aired - so it's been a bit - but I remember thinking the first several episodes set a standard that was hard to carry through to the end.
