As much as it would be nice to edit posts, I hope they don't introduce that feature since it will inevitably include comments & then we'll have to deal with those absolute nutters who edit their comments after somebody points out a horrible thing they just wrote & insist they never wrote it.
the only way editing posts and comments should be implemented is that it has an indicator that it’s been edited that when clicked on shows previous edits, so you can see what they originally said

The motivation for QTing in an argument is 100% for dunking support isn’t it? There’s zero benefit otherwise bc it’s way harder to keep the context as you dig through nested QTs It’s just repeatedly highlighting what someone said, no matter how valid, and going “awkwarrrrd” to all your followers
Usually but sometimes you get these normal-ass conversations where the guy isn't even trying to dunk, but he's still too quote-poisoned to just tap the reply button like some prole
I have sometimes quote-posted in this situation when the original post has replies disabled, thus leaving this the only way to engage.
I feel like that's how I know whether to judge: when I go to the original convo for context & realize the comments are still active...why aren't they saying it there? But if the comments are disabled (especially if there aren't many), I figure that's what happens when an active convo gets muted
Some people disable comments right from the start, or perhaps only allow them for mutual follows. This seems aggressively anti-social to me (why post if you don't want replies), but whatever, different strokes for different folks. And I appreciate some people/topics attract trash.
I feel I recognize the reasoning behind a lot of early comment disabling decisions. 9 times out of 10 it's something privileged people need to hear & will thusly inspire pretty predictable (& exhausting via repetition) response that is often a soft to hard performance of their challenged privilege.

It's always been the worst part of Twitter too. Sometimes you amplify an answer to a question because you want your answer more visible, sometimes you wanna echo a post and add details or corroboration, these are fine uses of quotes. Arguments though, that stuff is generally real annoying.
