Overall impression: Wink finally decided to go with Ni personnel against 12 after a half of them spreading us out and doing work with screens and quick game. Bad scout, I don’t know that it matters, but annoying to watch. We have a lot of athletes and need to make sure the coaching is equal to it.

They struggled to get lined up at times and communicate calls once they were in Ni, which I think tells you it was in fact a game plan thing. Some of the issues I thought I saw in coverage also seemed like game plan stuff the more I watched. Sucking up on underneath stuff esp.

Just not sure there is anyone on the schedule (CFB in general?) that runs out a 12 personnel that demands Michigan go 5-2 and even if you don't want a Ni for 4 man surfaces lift him for Rolder/Sullivan and walk down Barham.

Michigan went to a big nickel (Mason Curtis) in the 2nd Q and I thought "oh good, they figured it out" then immediately blitzed Curtis from the hash.

Think he’s blitzing like 75+% of the time? And they’re not just, like, fire zones where we’re plugging the open B gap to kill early down runs. There’s always a line game or two guys coming from depth or it’s 4-deep 2-under or 2 Steal etc. etc. DK how many day 1-3 install calls he ran but not many.

I just finished charting. Not counting the last drive he rushed 4.38 per play, which matches his total last season and is way too high against a team that was mostly screening. There are a lot of dog-green blitzes I noticed, and one is supposed to be a tag on slip screens.

What are the chances he’s putting all of these crazy blitzes on tape so Mateer thinks everyone’s blitzing and throws it right into a guy’s chest next week? 😅
