MG update. Mr A has found the fault- head gasket. No sign in radiator etc- only just gone. No damage to the head. This was new less than 3k miles ago. Guy in the classic car group here has one and we will order him a new one but not from MG Hive this time

A head gasket on a piece of cardboard.

Ahhhhh bugger. But at least you found it and it split in a way that didn't fill the coolant with oil. My old Astra did that and it was a right mess.

Mystery being why after do little use. Think the cyclinder head studs might have been stretched. Torqued down on rebuild and after 1k.

Mr A did. He has looked at some ‘forum’ and there’s a few had issues with this composite gasket, some after 1k. Came from MG Hive and right for the later head. Now he’s ordered a Payen one.
