Apparently if seating is provided it will be overrun with unhoused individuals and provide even less benefit to paying passengers. Behold this cautionary tale from Philadelphia
It's the constant guessing what track it will be and hopefully getting in the right line with other people who are also just guessing. The food is more expensive than Penn too, but I always get something from Threes Brewing for the road.
In so many other countries, platforms are pre-determined which makes it so much more civilized when it comes to boarding! In Europe they tell you where to stand on the platform for which coach #, making the whole process much faster.
I passed through there once with my family. I spent a good deal of time ranting about this to my wife while we were there. The main purpose of such a hall is waiting. People like to sit down when they're waiting. Such hostile design.
totally agree, but I am still in awe whenever I walk into that hall. It's really cool!
