Sure. There are three factors that form the basis of Slavery and the ensuing--diminishing though continuing--Jim Crow era. 1. People who wished to enslave other people. 2. People who could be enslaved. 3. People who tolerated/condoned slavery but who could say they were somehow not involved. 1/2
Remove any of the three and Slavery/Jim Crow never happened. Of #3, probably the most persistent and insidious dynamic keeping this group intact is the rationalization of the hesitation to accept that there are people who actually desire the horrors of Slavery/Jim Crow. Hence my comment. 2/2
