It’s the fact that the entry point was so far south. You can forgive people for being dismissive. I was! The alerts are a damp squib 999 times out of a 1000. But, hey, we saw it (and photographed it).

Yeah this was one time where it looked like a really strong possibility. I set up camp but packed up in the middle of the night to get the Lake view. I just didn't expect it to be so good! I remember having to dial down my typical settings as I was overexposing the aurora!
