I expect trans people will need to say that 'we do not condone the actions committed by the shooter.' And that's such bullshit. One violent member of the trans population is not a representative of that community. To suggest that transgender people need to answer for this in any way is transphobic.
Welcome to being a singular example, so being the default icon the sleeping majority knows. The only good thing I can say about it is I grew up around a lot of Black folks who were "firsts" in their communities, so I had a lot of personal role model examples. Still sucks, but training helps.
Even if we do say it, it'll be ignored.
After all, do we demand american white men to say they do not condone acts of violence and stupidity every few minutes when one of the commits an act of violence or stupidity?
