This is something my dad really instilled in me when he taught me how to drive. He would also point out any time we saw someone who was speeding and they ended up stuck at the same light as us later.

Every single time
My dad used to say "the only 2 lessons I have to give on driving is 'assume every other driver is an idiot, who doesn't know how to drive, and is ACTIVELY trying to cause an accident' and 2. left turns not at a left turn signal should be illegal unless I'm the one making the turn"
My dad also taught me the 3 right turns make a left. He also told my brother to never turn left from a certain exit at our high school. My brother did not listen and had an accident.
I actually did have to drive someone to the hospital in an emergency (anaphylaxis), I went over the speed limit I would have gladly paid the fine,or better yet had a cop escort us to the hospital. Her husband was in the back seat with the epi pen. These kind of extreme circumstances are crazy rare.
And yes, I did get stuck at a traffic light within 100ft of the hospital. I honked and traffic moved aside.
