This week's Arcade Archives game is MACH BREAKERS: NUMAN ATHLETICS 2. This is not a drill, this is the game's first home port and it absolutely rules. www.famitsu.com/article/2025...

It's really good! Imagine if Track & Field was done with superhumans, so the events get considerably more over-the-top, such as smashing through blocks of ice instead of jumping over hurdles and the like~
There's something delightful about multiple replies to this being "I've never heard of this game before but it looks like it kicks ass" because, well, it does! If you've not played the original Numan Athletics, that's out on PS4 and Switch as well, so give it a try! www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzm4...
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
I can't quite believe it either! But IT'S HAPPENING :D
IT'S HAPPENING! :D
It's a port? I thought Arcade Archives were basically an emulator and rom? :O
I have a tendency to use the word 'port' a bit liberally perhaps, and while Arcade Archives releases (as is my understanding) are emulations, they're (most of the time) a bit more accurate- Kangaroo and Wonder Momo were games that had problems in MAME but their ACA counterparts fix things.
Additionally, I wanted to emphasise that there were no home ports ~at the time~ for this game, so this is the first time you're able to play it at home on a console. Apologies if this has caused any confusion.
Ah ok. Fair enough. Have a good day. :)
The mode 7 lethargic-kaiju truck pull event is unhinged as heck and I love it.
Woooohh!! Will this be only the 2nd one as a standalone game, or does Numan Atletics come with the package as well? I don't think that one has a home port either, does it?
Arcade Archives releases are just individual games, but Numan Athletics was released on PS4 and Switch last year, so that's available right now!
Ooooh, wasn't aware it was already released!! That's great!
Happy to assist! I maintain a spreadsheet of all the current Arcade Archives releases, so if you're curious to see if something you're interested in is available, take a look! docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
This is golden! Amazing work, really, thanks a lot for the sheet!
Thank you, I'm glad it's helpful!
wonder if they'll do anything about streamer mode'ing for that credits music
Would that be the usual 'claimed by Victor Entertainment' stuff or is there something more specific about this one? From my limited experience streaming Namco ACA games, it'll usually pop up that it belongs to them but it never mutes it and lets it through nowadays.
