I am definitely a supporter of photo ID voting requirements. That doesn’t hold much weight against what the GOP is currently doing to our nation, however.

If a person has no official ID in 2025 then they have made a concious choice to limit their options in most aspects of a modern life.
Lots of people don't drive for a variety of reasons. It's weird that we've made the decision that you need to be able to drive in order to vote.
Every state has ID cards that are not drivers' licenses. A passport is another option.
I had to follow up when my vote by mail was rejected by the judges. In Illinois, they are required by law to notify me, and inform me of how to cure it. Which I did.

True. I was saying throughout 2022-23 that grassroots local Dem groups needed to be organizing squads of volunteers to do outreach/assist with paperwork/provide rides to offices for folks who face hurdles getting through the logistics of obtaining legally required IDs for their state elections.
That would be awesome. Will you be building transit from rural areas to the only DMV a couple hours away? Will you be putting house numbers on the homes on Reservations? Will you find the birth certificates of people who never got one for any number of reasons? It’s not that simple.
The fact it's not that simple is the very reason we should be doing those things NOW. More people can obtain ID in GOP hellscapes, with our help, over a year before it's needed, vs. realizing days before an election, "Oh, look, the GOP is blocking reservations from voting Because Addresses."

As someone who started using VBM with Absentee Ballots because of a health issue that prevented me getting to the polls, VBM for All Californians has been wonderful. Hindering voting is anti Democratic. That’s why the GOP and 🍊want to do it.

The voter ID thing and banning vote by mail also disenfranchise college students. They either need to mail their ballot back home or they need to change their ID to match their address at their university.
And at least where I went to school, you could not use a dorm as an address. So….. anyone living on campus is prevented from changing their ID.
Yep. Students at the university near me change dorm rooms every new school year and that might mean the building is different with a different address. I wouldn't want to have a string of address changes like that.
People always talk about it being for the poor and the elderly, which it is, but what they are doing is normalizing non-participation in politics for young people.
