It tells you something fairly profound about the nouveau riche of the Texas suburbs. These people are slaves to a cause that unquestionably is against their own material interests, but they've been fed so much bullshit by their church, the "news," and their friends that they're noseblind to it. -OS

the ONLY reason i can get vino on Sunday is some of the Baptist women demanded & won a reliable source of Pinot Grigio/Chardonnay from their local Albertson's/Kroger/HEB etc

This isn't just the new people. I grew up in College Station, and let me tell you there is nothing an Aggie loves more than Silver Taps. Tragedies like the bonfire collapse are the necessary fuel for the cathartic public mourning that is the only real emotion they'll indulge in.

Plus deep down they already know their daughters are going to go to UT Austin, transfer to somewhere in California after one semester, and never speak to their parents again.

there's a deep conviction on the right that the government can't do anything good, and its only prepose is to punish people, they want to use it to punish people they don't like and fear it'll be used to punish them.
