One reason Republicans have sought to so aggressively gerrymander for the last 20 years is that the dense clustering of Democratic votes in cities makes geography very bad for them. Example -- we used the 2024 results, and were still able to draw a technically legal map where Dems won 24 seats. -OS

There's limits to how much you can dilute a city with rural vote sinks because every district has to be geographically contiguous. Whereas there's very little limit to how much you can dilute rural represenation with densely packed urban vote sinks. -OS

Hence why you can draw a 52-0 map in CA. Democratic votes are so densely clustered around LA and the Bay that you can simply draw a map where every district approaches one of the two major metros and theres more than enough Dem votes to go around. -OS

I concur as a proud if not dense voter in a cluster. I respected Republicans who had a vision. Yeah we’d disagree on solutions but could agree on problems needing action. Nowadays it’s all confrontational. The greedy competition is not only aggressive but unnecessary. Blind power grab negates a map.

They wouldn’t respect a map if it wasn’t serving their leader even if they made it. That’s for the weak minded and lazy grifters who take advantage of others. Cheating because you are not popular? Can’t see the point without the respect. Time to walk away from the table before more people suffer.

California is gonna do their thing and I respect that effort. Eventually the state leaders will have to agree on what this state stands for and needs. A vision for people to work towards. I don’t see that happening anytime soon. That’s just a shame we all gotta carry now.
