The punctuated equilibrium theory of evolution holds that speciation happens rapidly after a genetic bottleneck event. It is used to explain parts of the fossil record where biodiversity explodes right after a mass extinction. Another example will be FL without vaccines. -OS

I regard Punctuated Equilibrium as an example of survivor bias - an unnecessary artefact of gaps in the fossil record. Whereas, with Florida, RfK etc, there will be a direct and continuous record of mass death & the decay of public health policy.
