My old ass computer can barely handle windows 10 so I'll be happy to get an excuse to switch to linux
Word for DOS is pretty nice too.
Been running CentOS for 20 years, switched to Fedora 41 this year, later Ubuntu for gaming PC (driving games), and Debian for my son's PC. Never be happier π
*CentOS for production servers
I'll be using 0Patch.
I didn't see where that was going but I agree with this last 2 lines just on principle.
Ending up with Manjaro.
End of line means no more updates, some of us can live with that
- Just install Linux Mint and enjoy a hassle-free linux experience
Hassle free without HDR, vrr but sure hassle free. Hassle free with a *
There will always be some things that can't be done or can't be done easily on one system versus another For example good luck gaming on a Mac, sure some games run fine but uhh .. If you're a hardcore gamer? You're gonna need Windows. Meanwhile Mac's have tools Wintendoes doesn't.
Donβt let that guy tell you we canβt get hdr or vrr working in Linux
Didn't say you can't, simply that you need Wayland which isn't stable to begin with on mint
That's the only reason I moved away from the otherwise functional Mint. Rolling & semi-rolling distros with Wayland have mostly been stable for me along with the latest Nvidia drivers.
The overall experience of just USING Linux Mint is more aligned with how users experience windows and mac; Not having to pull teeth just to browse the web. What their capabilities are is never going to be in 100% parity.
I just want to go back to windows 7 and not worry about upgrading.
- wait for company IT to tell you how and when to upgrade (incl. HW and VM changes), then scrambling to get your setup running again and be late with your tickets
toootally not stressed. Gonna get a response any day now. Aaaany day now.
I have one word in response "Fedora"
