I’m Ron, from NY I was never involved in politics & thought things would work themselves out. Then, I started seeing others trying to take our Rights away. I was taught to appreciate the freedom earned by people who came before me and good people now who want better lives. This isn't better.

It seems more like Democracy is leaving the USA.
You have to experience loss in order to grow and learn. I'm not saying this will be fast, but I do retain faith in my Yankee cousin's ability, after trying all other bad options, to remember what works. Half my family are Yanks. You're all (y'all) crazy as an outhouse rat, but I have faith.
I used to think that. Now I see there's a lot more of the stupid and crazy (not in a good way) than there are people who actually care about what happens to them, their families and everyone's future.
The lumenprolitariate has always been here, and right now crazy/stupid is on the rise. Any way we slice it, things are going to get vastly worse in many countries before they ever get better. Embrace the suck. Build community where and how you can. Help others. That's what life is about.

Also from NY and feeling the same. I door knocked, donated and made calls. Showed up in 2024 in every way I could and still, traitors won office. Social media lies are more impactful than facts?
I wish they were. I'm basically at the point that all the effort I also put in to keep trump out made no difference. So what's the point? I'm operating here minimally to see what's real news and commenting sometimes. But it's not like before.
I dwell in the same spot. I was encouraged by seeing Laura Gillen win a seat in Congress (4th District/Nassau) over her corrupt GOP candidate tho. My one bright spot.

Suffolk here too. I spent lots of weekends door knocking the entire Island. Laura Gillen was only win. Pretty sure there were GOP ringers running Dem. John Avalon was a joke. Zero community reach out. No volunteer events despite reach outs & email was used for donation asks This needs to change.
I agree. I wasn't sure about Avlon but I am now. I'm just so sick of all this. I have trouble not being disgusted about 100 times each day.
Ikr? This election cycle was very disillusioning. I’ve lost my faith in people & institutions. Politics here seemed to be money grab for most 2025 I’m going smaller, concentrating on more local. There has to be more like minded people who want politicians to work for the people who elected them?!

The rot starts locally and the GOP will start to get the picture once they see MORE Dems show up to vote on the local and off-cycle elections. Trust me - if there is a tidal wave of Dem voters showing up they will start to read the tea leaves and see that they cannot get away with the malarkey.
