Why must we say "black" man? Couldn't we just say "man"? We can clearly see that he is black in the photo. I would love to hear what any non-white person thinks about this. I'm white and even I notice that white is held as the standard and any other race/ethnicity is considered "other".

That was my first thought, too. If it's a white man, it would just say a man. I'm sure there are many things about this hero that are true. Obviously, he's a coach, maybe a father or church member.
