“There’s a lot of things where we may just need better research. We’ve never talked about environmental exposures that may, say, cause cancer.” Classic right-wing move: Claim that something that has been extensively studied has never been studied before, which is why we can't do anything about it.

But made even more ironic this time by the fax that they're firing and defunding all the scientists who might study such things.

I've never heard of (X) issue. Therefore, nothing has been done on it. That, or I did my own research (without peer review material, and zero understanding of the issue) and now I am an expert and science is wrong as compared to my ill informed beliefs.

Start with Coal! Easy answer. Typical talking out both sides of their body. One coming from their mouth and the other from their exit hole.

Also, “I know nothing about this, I haven’t read anything about it, no one‘s ever talked to me about it, it’s not in the newspapers every single day, so therefore I have no particular opinion. Although I am in charge and have experts working for me.”

Another example of all the best people, who are the only people who will associate themselves with this administration. We’re at the bottom of the barrel folks!

one example is the biological mechancism that inspired Ozempic. Researchers had intention to investigate something else (forgot what it was), but discovered molecular entities that interact with insulin. This discovery was later used to develop Ozempic.

Yep, fixed ozone depletion due to toxic chemicals. But, sure lets let er rip again due to the fact that they want deregulation to fuck over people for profits.

Does anyone hear this and think, 'Yeah, cancer causes have never been studied," because like literally every other week we have a new news report saying something causes or prevents cancer, and 80% of what I buy has tags on it because California requires it saying it can cause cancer.

It's not that we *want* to fill the air and water with poison, it's just a lot of this stuff really needs to be studied first before we make those decisions {Slashes environmental health funding}.

Worth noting that Republicans have spent *years* trying to discredit existing public health research that examined such exposures by claiming it "wasn't replicable" (b/c it would be unethical to replicate, say, an industrial disaster) or "not transparent" (b/c it protected patient confidentiality)

It's a reason you see the Trump admin deploying the language of replicability/reproducibility. Much research that addresses things like environmental exposure (among other public health issues) & challenges Trump donors' bottom lines isn't replicable/reproducible in way they aim to require.

One law would clear up this propaganda. Make it mandatory to disclose if you are a paid spokesperson, lobbyist, or etc if you are going to make public statements such as these advocating for your client. It would be REALLY AWKWARD having to state you’re an Oil Company Lobbyist etc then trash Solar
