I feel this badly. I blew out my knee in 1987.
Yep. So many sports people do it. And come back from it. And it can be a very big deal. i pretty much operate with 1.5 legs, given the left is weaker.
I had my triple reconstruction done by a surgeon who was the go-to guy for the NSWRL players and the centre had an integrated physiotherapy unit. So I did my rehab alongside many players I saw on the telly.
Sounds like the right place for the job. I missed out on lots of early rehab because I moved cities - possibly slowed the recovery
