Watched years and years on netflix the other day and the preductions they made in 2019 have been spot on. The only problem was when they exposed the use of camps for immigrants etc, I fear now there would be no uproar from the general public and would be allowed to do it.

I need to watch it still... have heard good things. I can sadly imagine a world in 10-20 years where climate refugees are met with drone boats in the channel, which would've just been a dystopian sci-fi plot 10 years ago. Hopefully we can move the window back before we get there!

The media seems hard-pressed to find politicians who will provide the counternarrative. They seem to be turning, primarily, to activists and others in the community. Davey and other LD MPs have a chance here if they make it very clear to media outlets that they are available.

It's not about "support", it's the benefit of the doubt that matters. Given the failures, ambiguities and compromises of other parties, why would anyone think that Farage/Reform wouldn't be able to be given that by enough people to enable them to do real and substantial harm?

I can agree Farage needs to go away, but why are Labour leaning into his rhetoric? It's only sliding the Overton window further right. You could understand it as a last resort if there was an election in 2 months and 60% of the electorate had signed their allegiance to Farage in blood, but why now?
