I remember feeling a tad awkward when my wife didn't take my name, but I also felt it was important to respect their wishes in things and it wasn't a big deal to me. Kids ended up with my surname by default, I have mixed feelings about that too. Family and property are weird.

I didn't legally change my name for like 6 years, but that's because I didn't want to go to the social security office. At the BMV, all I had to do show our marriage certificate.

I just celebrated 22 years of my taken last name yesterday. I had my original last name for 26 years & it’ll be a challenge if I take it back because it is not only a pain to get others to spell it correctly, it’s very obvious that it’s a Jewish one & why I keep my FB setting to friends only.
