I cannot WAIT
I cannot WAIT
So good.
Its sooooo good Josh
I still think constantly about this exhibit on her daily drawing practice
The flower arrangement sketches
Yes!! And those persimmons
I have told this story recently but she was my next door neighbor on Castro St. and I once grabbed a paper mache head of 49er Jerry Rice that she was throwing away so for awhile I owned a Ruth Asawa original
Amazing.
Castro and ... 23rd or 22nd? my place was on the corner, this weird little one story building that i think was a corner grocery that had been converted into two tiny apartments. Plus an illegal unit in the garage!
Ah. Where would San Francisco be without its illegal units in the garage?
That is incredible! Was that the house where she had a bunch of those masks hanging on an exterior wall?
Man, it was a long time ago but I'm pretty sure I could see some of that wall from my place.
She was just my pleasant neighbor lady that I'd say hi to, San Francisco was full of eccentric creative types in those days.
we still have a few, vanishingly few.
Erika there was a monthly gathering of cartoonists that would meet in different bars and I'd go and there would be literally 50 or 100 San Francisco cartoonists hanging out and it just seemed normal to me
SIGH
best I can do is 1000 AI bros grinding 6 days a week and drinking beef tallow after they lift…or something
I still miss the landscape and climate and architecture of San Francisco, I miss riding my motorcycle out to the ocean, things like that ... but a lot of what I miss about the place no longer exists.
yeah I try to enjoy the pleasantness of living here and not dwell too much on everything and everyone that disappeared since the 90s. that way lies madness. but if anyone with money starts complaining about any aspect of the city, they get an earful about affordability and the tech monoculture.
Sigh. missionlocal.org/2025/08/edin...
It’s incredible and I wish I’d been able to go a second time.
