Hello to @zynkolion.bsky.social … you don’t need to brag to disabled people that you can fully comprehend the content when a disabled person does their best to make a content accessible to their disabled peers by adding Alt text prior to sharing it in the disabled community.
I hope you know this already but in case you don’t, please don’t brag about being sighted, hearing, fully mobile, otherwise abled, etc … when you encounter Blind, Deaf, Mobility Impaired, otherwise disabled people in public … it’s not generally taken well by members of the disabled community.
Many of us (disabled people) take pride in our differences but we don’t need abled people altering us to their abled state when we, for instance, Are using a mobility ramp to get into a building.
Alt text was ratified as the official global standard for disabled access to the internet in 1999, over a quarter century ago. @bsky.app reminds every user when they upload content the importance of Alt text but many ignroe. There are even setting to remind you to use it so you don’t forgot.
Not to beat a dead horse as they say @zynkolion.bsky.social but as you can see, some people benefit from alt text even if you don’t. This is but one example.

A disappointment is the end of something that was falsely appointed. You thinking Sarah or anyone else owes you or anyone else alt text when they actually don't is on you.
Well aren’t you a delightful person. Common courtesy is something we all owe each other. This is why society can exist, bc we are kind to each other. Ofc this applies only until someone acts in a way to revokes it, by being a dick. Your “everyone for themselves” is just a recipe for misery.
Listen to yourself talk. You are entitled. You believe you or any hypotheticals who struggle with visuals are entitled to Sarah's time and attention. Writing alt texts takes both. You aren't entitled to either, and it is not unkind of anyone to prioritize their time and attention as they see fit.
If politeness is entitlement in your mind, you live in a rough world pal. Common courtesy isn’t entitlement, it’s common courtesy. Come now, you’re better than that. It takes very little to add alt text. I’ve had it on each of the pics I’ve posted here, sans the very first. It’s not hard.
"Common courtesy" starts to become entitlement when you start trying to enforce or demand it. The thing about common courtesy is that people are doing it by themselves, not because they are shamed by others into it. "Come on, you're better than that" Better than being emotionally manipulated, yes
It doesn't matter if it's "not hard". It takes time and attention. That is a fact. Not everyone has the spoons to constantly compose alt text, nor should people ever feel obligated to use the feature. Does it make the work more accessible? Yes. Does it help AIgen? Also yes. Does it tale extra...
... time and spoons? Yes again. There might be reasons why people choose not to use it. Maybe we don't have to be judgemental twats about who does and doesn't use it, how about it? People do not owe it to you or anyone to use it. This isn't "not having common courtesy".
Like, I am in no way against people using alt text, and neither am I against people asking others to use it to make their content more accessible - nicely. But saying "I am disappointed" isn't it. If it turns into a point of shaming and emotional manipulation, I am against it. That's all.
Honestly, appreciate the in depth response. I agree to a certain degree, being polite is good. I disagree with two things: 1.“I’m disappointed” is not emotional manipulation. Otherwise expressing any negative feelings would be it as well. 2.Being considerate of others should be the expectation.
Just as artists are completely in their rights to not make their art accessible, followers are in their rights to give feedback. And those artists again are in their rights to ignore it, as we are seeing here.

Thank you big If you wish to be helpful, the disabled community is better served by you adding alt text to content witho any alt text then following a disabled person around “corrrctinf” the alt text they have already created. I assume the logic of that is as undeniable to you as it is to me.

I know I don’t write “good” alt text, I am an alt text consumer, its iron that I write alt text bug I do eha I can.
Sorry, but there are actually 4 serious typos in your alt text, all of them in the Extroverts panels description. This would make the Extroverts panels description incomprehensible for someone listening to it from a screen reader.
