That's what I'm seeing on the FB UK insects group. This year I've seen no weevils, robberflies, great pied hoverflies, hornet hoverflies, burnet moths, flower crab spiders, javelin wasps, longhorn beetles, malachite beetles, orb weavers, mayflies or yellow dung flies. It's been the worst year ever 😢

The FB people up North seem to be having a normal, or good year. We had the wettest end of winter ever, followed by a two month drought and then four heatwaves. I'm sure bugs will bounce back next year, but not so much if this happens every five years or so, which is what they are saying 😟
